Components
The Pulse consists of the Pulse Core and a few other components.
List of components
These are the components required to build the Pulse inhaler.
- 1 x Pulse Core subassembly
- 1 x Printed case
- 1 x Printed mouthpiece
- 1 x Printed threaded bottom cover
The Pulse Core
The Pulse Core consists of the PCBs, motors, charge springs, and all other complex mechanical bits such as the gears and push rod. It is a standalone assembly that generates snapping motion and functions entirely on its own.
It has been designed as a subassembly component of the Pulse for two reasons:
- As a freestanding assembly, the Pulse Core can be considered for broader use outside the context of an inhaler device. Examples of other uses include projectile launching or pressing switches. This may make it easier for people to make, distribute, or even sell. Being able to eventually sell it is important because the PCBs can be difficult to source parts for and assemble.
- The design process of the rest of the Pulse is simplified. The Core can be represented by a simple cylinder shape with fixed dimensions, and design can be done around that.
